Positive Youth Development (PYD)

 What is PYD?

Positive Youth Development is about helping kids develop PERSONAL and SOCIAL skills to make it possible for them to overcome their barriers.

Six Principles- Basic to ALL Youth Development

  •     The goal is more than prevention.

  •     The process is enduring, comprehensive, and engages youth.

  •     Strategies go beyond the basics.

  •     Youth development happens everywhere.

  •     Vision is required, not just coordination.

  •     All youth are developing... all youth are valued.

For more information on Positive Youth Development, please contact Karen Schoonmaker at kschoonm@gw.neric.org or 464-3950.
